Social Protection Vows to Increase Cash Transfer

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has promised to come up with the program to boost cash transfer.
The program will improve the results in the country.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on March 31,2023,Director of National Protection Secretariat,Jane Muyanga has said that they are going to put economic inclusion so that to ensure cash reach to the beneficiaries.
She has further said the economic inclusion will succeed by believing it will eradicate poverty among Kenyans.
According to the Social protection agenda,releasing cash is not enough to meet the expected outcome.
“In the social assistance we have realized that dispensing cash alone is not giving us the outcome that we envisage in the country,”said the Director.
“Under this program we have economic inclusion where we are trying to see if we gave cash to our beneficiaries,”said Muyanga.
Another addition to the cash transfer,she has said they are improving nutrition through cash and health to the vulnerables in the households.
“We are giving a top up to our cash transferred beneficiaries who have a pregnant woman or child under 2 years,”admitted Muyanga.
She has said that to increase the scope of cash transfer,they have partnered with the Ministry of Health to help give out nutrition counsel,programming and growth.
Director Muyanga has noted that there is preparation ahead of the Social Protection Conference anticipated to be held on Monday,April,3,2023.
She has revealed that the meeting tends to discuss issues facing the Social Protection Agenda and solutions to the problems.
Muyanga has said the Social Protection Conference will partner with government officials,non-state actors,the civil society and the United Nations agency.
The Social Protection has added that the government has come up with an enhanced social registry to collect data for the vulnerable groups within the country.
“So far we have data of 24 counties and within now and the end of the financial year we are adding another 11,”assured the Social Protection.
It is targeting to reach all 47 counties to have data of vulnerable people by next year.
